The Role Of The Electronic Media In Political Socialization In Bayelsa State. (A Study Of Daar Communication, Elebele)
ABSTRACT
This research work majorly focused on the role of Electronic media in political socialization, a study of Daar Communication Elebele, The study was carried out to ascertain the role in which the media play in ensuring that the publics are properly informed and enlightened on political issues and also to see how the gap between the Urban and Rural dwellers is bridge in terms of political awareness. This study also was carried out to determine if the electronic media actually play the role of political socialization, and what it really played in enhancing political socialization. To achieve this random sampling method was used for the distribution of 100 question to workers and dwellers in Elebele and 86 was retrieved for analysis using simple percentage and frequency distribution table. The study revealed that electronic media as an agent of socialization teaches people to take various roles, pattern of behavior, conduct values attitudes and belief. That electronic media increases grass root participation in political thought its political programs in local languages. The media shapes individual value system and world view’s, ideology and perception Based on the finding it therefore suggested that government should focus, it attention in political awareness campaign, political parties should make it mandatory for, its aspirates to be involved in political debates Enlightenment programs in local languages should be sponsored.
